What is an LEI?
A Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) is a 20-character ISO 17442 code that uniquely identifies legal entities in global financial transactions. It improves transparency on ownership and is mandatory for regulated trading.
A verifiable LEI extends this: a W3C Verifiable Credential that cryptographically proves a company's LEI, issued by a GLEIF-accredited provider and signable with PQC algorithms (ML-DSA), making it quantum-resilient.

Who is the Bundesanzeiger Verlag (BANZ)?
The Federal Gazette (Bundesanzeiger Verlag) is the authoritative German registry for company announcements, annual reports, commercial register changes, and court decisions, published under the Federal Ministry of Justice.
In the full Business Wallet Playground, the Bundesanzeiger Verlag API verifies legal entity identity at source: search by name or LEI and Business Wallet retrieves official registration data directly.
